Sample Question & Answers

Q:How do I obtain permission to use ACES-ITCS images in a publication, multimedia, website or display?

A:. If you are part of the ACES college faculty or staff, contact a member of the ACES-ITCS Photo staff for assistance in locating images and obtaining permission.

For all other uses you will need to request permission in advance by contacting:

Jim Knoblauch
ACES-ITCS
69 Mumford Hall
1301 W. Gregory Drive
Urbana, IL 61801
217-333-9436
jknobla@illinois.edu

Permission for such use is granted on a case-by-case basis. A fee may be involved depending on the type and nature of the proposed use.

Q: Why do you require that each image use be identified with a photo credit?

A: Quite frequently we are contacted by people inside and outside ACES and Extension who wish to use an image they've seen used previously. Without complete information on its origin, identifying and locating images can be difficult or impossible. In these cases, a photo credit is very helpful--both to us and to the client who is making such a request.

Q: May I store these image files on a file or internet server after using?

A: While digital files need not be returned, we would prefer that files be deleted after use. If you do need to store a copy of the file on your server we do ask that you leave the file name intact (for tracking purposes) and that all of the all the accompanying text information (the caption) stored in the "Notes" file or File information box when the image is opened in Adobe Photoshop, be included, and presented completely and unchanged.

Q: May I put these on a CD-ROM, public domain or otherwise?

A: Not without first requesting permission.
